AVHG MEMBER APPLICATION:

The Acadiana Veterans Honor Guard (AVHG) offers military funerals to Honorably Discharged Veterans and also Flag Presentations for Veteran Events. We welcome new members to assist in these services. New members must be physically capable of performing all of the ceremonial task we provide. These consist of performing casket postings for 15 minute periods at a time, marching, carrying and posting flags at events and performing rifle firings with a 9.5lb M-1 rifle at funeral ceremonies, and standing in formation, occasionally up to an hour at a time. Once trained and satisfactorily evaluated, AVHG will issue a uniform to you, which is returnable upon termination. Alternatively, you may purchase your AVHG uniform. You must have been Honorably discharged from the military and submit a copy of your DD-214, with you application. Participation in events are voluntary, but you must participate in at least 3 per quarter to remain active. Annual membership fee is $12.00 per year, payable upon joining.
