AVHG MEMBER APPLICATION:

The Acadiana Veterans Honor Guard (AVHG) offers military funeral honors “upon requests” to Honorably Discharged Veterans. We also conduct Flag Presentations for public events, Memorial & Veteran day Ceremonies, Hospice veteran lapel pinning’s, Pledge of Allegiance at City Counsel meeting. We welcome new members to assist in these services. New members must be physically capable of performing all of the ceremonial task we provide. These consist of performing marching, carrying and posting flags, performing rifle firings holding a nine and half pound M-1 rifle, and standing in formation in austere outside weather conditions. Once trained and satisfactorily evaluated, AVHG will issue a uniform to you. If you decide to leave the organization the uniform is required to be returned. Alternatively, you may purchase your AVHG uniform. Only Honorably discharged veterans from any United States military branch may apply and will need to provide a copy of a DD-214 with the application. Participation in events are voluntary, but you must participate in at least 3 per quarter to remain active. Annual membership fee is $12.00 per year, payable upon joining.
